In a Hypoid type axle the teeth on the crown wheel and pinion simultaneously rotate and slide against one another, putting high pressure on the faces of the teeth. This action requires the use of extreme pressure (EP), and other, additives to the oil to prevent wear and micro-pitting of the gear surfaces.
Hypoid 80W-90
Replaces oils originally specified as EP80.
Hypoid 85W-140
Replaces oils originally specified as EP90. This GL5 rated multigrade hypoid oil contains carefully selected additives which make it compatible with standard or limited slip differentials. It will work with all types of limited slip differentials.
